Hi
Just in relation to this thread… I have recently had the Secretary of our OC threaten to film me and release it for public view? Is there something I can do about this?
I have read this post with interest. I am not a tenant, I am an owner within a strata scheme and recently myself and another owner were sent rude and offensive emails and text messages from the secretary of the OC in regards to a building inspection.
How can we both proceed in regards to having them removed?
Thanks very much for this.
I will try to find out how much we are covered for with volunteers workers insurance. A working bee was planned for this weekend but no one showed. I’ve not been informed though, that it isn’t to proceed… here’s hoping!
It’s the case I think of him being the position of Secretary for I believe over 9(!) years and that he is a law unto himself. He knows that very few people attend the AGM and every year, he just gets voted in by the same people who turn up. The AGM is even held in his unit! I believe he is corrupt. It is, as you said, him feeling like he does “all the work” but it’s only the work that he wants to do. He bypasses process and believes that people don’t care.
We have an new person managing our strata, but it might be as you said, hard to convince her to do anything because she is, in essence, answerable to the EC. I’m incredibly frustrated because I’ve really endured 5 years of bullying and harassment by this person because I tell him he isn’t following the rules.
Hi Peter
Thanks for the reply. I have spoken to one person who used to be on the EC, but found his attitude so stressful, that she now no longer attends any meetings or wishes to be involved. Other owners who live at the units also know that he is “like that” but can’t be bothered. Unfortunately, I am also in a situation where over 50% of the units are tenanted. Is there any way that I can contact other owners legally?

25/09/2013 at 10:13 am in reply to: Confidentiality in regards to dealings with Strata Managers #19572Thanks everyone… The Dept of Fair Trading has advised myself that my strata manager told them that they had the “entitlement” to contact the EC about my complaint, which worries me… This makes me think what other information do they have which they would feel they had the “entitlement” to let other people know about?! I would have felt that the conversations between a service provider and a client would have been automatically confidential. I lodged the complaint with Dept of Fair Trading as someone there told me that they breached the codes of conduct? Does anyone know more about this?
