Thanks all for the suggestions of using a clothesline. That’s a whole other problem. One or two residents use the whole line, leave their clothes out for days at time, which precludes others from using it. I think that’s part of the driver for people using their electric dryers instead. But then, I’m baffled – today is warm, sunny, with a good breeze – perfect clothes drying weather. Not an item on the clothes line, but two dryers running! Exasperating!
Thanks Jimmy – some good options to think about, exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks Sir Humphrey, I’ll definitely explore the kwh meter, didn’t know there was such a thing.
Hi Webman
You’re absolutely right, we need to figure out whether the costs make sense. But without knowing what the options are, I didn’t even have info to cost it out (and our strata manager has not been helpful in suggesting solutions). At least now I have a few ideas to explore. Thank you.
Love that last comment, oh so true.
Thanks for the advice. It is a shame that our Strata Manager didn’t give me this advice months ago when I raised it with them. I’ll follow your suggestions.
Thanks for the replies! Further investigation has revealed that cork isn’t going to provide enough sound insulation without a 6mm underlay… I’m thinking this is getting pricey. So new carpet it may well be.
As for the downstairs neighbor, he seems to play his games about once a week so I am able to tolerate that. But much more and I’d have to complain!
Really, no one has any thoughts or knowledge on this topic? How about any suggestions about where I could get accurate, unbiased advice? Thank you.
