A notice by our strata manager has appeared in my block advising that a meeting will be held to elect a tenants’ representative. Can any give more information about this, such as what this role would entail etc .

The meeting is to held at a distant inconvenient location on Monday’s public holiday, I assume this is so that nobody attends & so it can be rigged.

The strata committee is obliged by law to organise a meeting of tenants for the election of a representative where more than half the residents are registered tenants.

If only one tenant turns up, they can be elected as tenants rep. They can attend and speak at committee meetings but they have no vote and can be excluded from “sensitive” discussions.

        There’s more about this HERE.
