I’m hoping the community can offer suggestions to the following.
Our 18 block units, with only 3 owners residing there, are finally looking at installing security cameras in the garage/bin area. There are only three of us on the SC as there are so few who turn up to meetings.
With so many tenants we are constantly having rubbish dumped anywhere and everywhere. For example, do some work in the unit and dump the rubbish in the garage, buy a new fridge etc and dump the packing in the bin area, don’t feel like walking to the bin room, dump it at the front door or garage.
We had a problem with someone sleeping in the back area of the bin room and installed a security gate which stopped that but doesn’t stop the cardboard/mattress etc dumping there.
So it is felt the only way to go is to install motion sensor cameras in an attempt to discourage rubbish dumping, and those idiots who try to and sometimes do manage to get into the garage through the door.
We had someone come out yesterday and gave what appeared to be good advice – minimal number of cameras and siting of the hardware. This of course now leads to who should have access to the footage.
As I said, only 3 resident owners, know one won’t do it, one is on the committee but has their own business and is sometimes hard to contact, and the other who might do it but appears to also be very busy.
Obviously we would need to add something to the by-laws to cover the cameras and who has access to content. And of course we will have to install wi-fi to make it work. Oh dear.
