Quiet often I hear that Strata Committees should be open and transparent with owners. Our committee I believe is far from it and go out of their way to keep owners in the dark. Examples: The SC meets on a monthly basis and the minutes are posted within 7 days and the section regarding inward mail is always the same “Correspondence – RESOLVED that inward correspondence be received and outward correspondence be ratified.” Don’t know about other owners (71) but I for one would like to know what correspondence was received and from whom.
Q. Should the committee/secretary be more open and report in the minutes the sender of inward correspondence and the subject matter?
We have two notice boards one I believe, or should be for the Owners Corp. and the other is where the SC posts Minutes etc. The Owners board is mostly splatted with junk (business ads etc.). Dare not post something sensible or educational it is likely to be torn down. Eg. I posted a copy of Jimmy T’s recent article “Business skills that can spell strife in strata“. It was taken down within an hour, put up again and taken down again and then again. We know it is several committee members (core group) doing this.
Q. I and others have sent mail and asked for it to be published, it never is. If we post it on the notice board they take it down. How can we stop this?
