We are a small strata of 4 lots. 2 of us (Lots 2 & 4) are interested in connecting to gas. In order to connect, Jemena (the gas company) has provided a quote for installation of path valve to front of property only $1450, meter supplied and installed by our plumber, and our nominated plumber is to connect to the path valve to the lots via 40metre gas line common property a shared driveway, quoted $3000. Now the other 2 lot owners (Lot 1 and 3) are saying we should pay for the installation by Jemena and our plumber at our own expense? Cant we use the sinking fund to pay this. Any advice which way we should go about this? thanks!

I agree with units 1 and 3. Why should they pay for a gas line that they can't use?Frown

There's no legal obligation on the other owners to pay for this – they could just vote to not pay.  However, you could argue that having gas installed to the development enhances everyone's property value so they should split the cost of installation between what's required for the whole complex and what's required for individual homes.
