As resident and current chairperson of our owners corporation I have done lots of research on rules, regulations and best practice in managing strata buildings. It has become obvious to me that lack of effective communication and engagement with residents, lack of experience what it means living in an apartment, combined with committees which are often reactive rather than proactive, is the cause of many conflicts, disagreements and disappointments.

This has motivated me to set up a website Vertical Neighbourhood Connections to connect people, ideas and resources to create great places to live for people in apartment, units and townhouses. It includes many practical examples on how to create more engaged and well functioning places to live. I hope it will foster greater engagement and encourages innovation to create a sense of community, increase wellbeing of residents and create desirable places to live. Welcome.  Seems like a fine idea and we’d be glad of your input, especially on Vic-specific issues – we know you do it all differently down there.

By the way, your link to your website didn’t work so I fixed it.  Might be worth looking at when you send it our elsewhere.
