Have just received mail from our SM for contact details. Just how much info does an owner have to give? The letter states that they need phone numbers and alternate contact details for emergency purposes. At the bottom of the page it says that these details will be available for all to see.
I have a real problem, as do many other owners, at having my phone numbers and email address available for everyone. I have no problem with the SM hadith these details but quite frankly having most of the people in this complex even knowing my name and which unit I am in is enough for me.
We have people who have previously been harassed by residents in the complex by note and in person. Having even more contact details enables even more avenues of harrassment. With our past SM I gave instructions that my numbers were for their use only and not to be given to anyone in the complex not even the EC. So is there a legal requirement for this? And to say who I have a spare key with? I have to supply their details and this would be available to all and sundry? Can someone enlighten me on this requirement? Because if having my contact details available is compulsory, I would speed up my search for a house pronto. I wouldn’t give the people around me the time of day let alone my phone number.
